Safety Management I
2.1 CEUs Course Description: Start your journey toward earning the ASSP Safety Management Certificate with Safety Management I, the foundational course in this three-part certificate series. Designed for professionals with less than three years of experience in safety management—or experienced individuals newly responsible for managing safety programs—this course delivers a comprehensive introduction to the core principles of occupational safety and health (OSH) systems. Through real-world case studies, hands-on exercises, and expert instruction, you’ll learn to:
Identify and implement essential elements of an effective safety management system
Write clear policy statements and performance standards
Create accountability structures and advocate for safety across your organization
Understand legal, moral, and financial responsibilities tied to workplace safety
Control workers’ compensation costs and draft realistic safety budgets
This course lays the groundwork for the entire certificate program. Completion of Safety Management I is required to progress to the next course in the series.
Earn the ASSP Safety Management Certificate This course is part of the Safety Management Certificate Program offered by the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP). To earn your certificate, you must complete all three required courses within two years:
Safety Management I (October 1–3, 2025)
Safety Management II (January 12–13, 2026)
Corporate Safety Management (April 6–8, 2026)
