Description
Hazardous Materials Awareness & Emergency Response Training
Working with hazardous materials or waste carries inherent risks, even when incidents are rare. Accidents can happen suddenly and without warning—making preparation and rapid response essential. This course equips participants with the knowledge and tools needed to train employees or clients on how to respond effectively when emergencies occur.
Participants will gain a clear understanding of the risks associated with hazardous materials, and how these risks can be minimized—or even eliminated—through proper planning and preparation. The training emphasizes the importance of recognizing hazards, using personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately, and working in coordination with Emergency Responders to mitigate potential harm.
This course covers:
- The Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG)
- Globally Harmonized System (GHS)-compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- HAZMAT terminology
- PPE selection and usage
- Digital tools and apps for emergency response
By the end of the course, attendees will be prepared to train others and develop site-specific safety protocols tailored to their organization.
